Hurricanes and Earthquakes: What You Can Do To Help
By Maeve Donohue
Anyone can tell you that the weather in August and September of this year has caused many environmental disasters, specifically in Texas, Florida, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Living in a landlocked state, we are isolated from hurricanes, and we don’t have many earthquakes. However, we are not unaware of what has been happening recently. We are limited to what we can do to help people, animals, and the environment, but there are ways we can do what we can. Below, I’ve linked websites and donation links to campaigns that are raising money for the hurricanes and earthquake that have devastated cities.
HURRICANE HARVEY (Texas) and HURRICANE IRMA (Florida, the Caribbean)
Hurricane Harvey hit Houston Texas on August 25th, and caused damages to homes, businesses, roads, and so much more. Hurricane Harvey reached to be a category 4 storm, killing over seventy people. Hurricane Irma hit the lower half of Florida and most of the Bahamas on September 5th, growing to be a category 5 hurricane before reaching the Dominican Republic.
