Senior-Itis
Emily Haas
A student’s last year of high school is both their best and worst year. On one hand, you’re almost done! You have waited so long and dreamed about that diploma since the first 30 seconds of freshman year; but on the other hand, the fantasy is becoming a reality. That means senior dues. That means that the classes you take actually matter because you need the credits to graduate and you more than likely saved all of the half credits until now; and it also means, college ad being an adult.
As a senior progresses in their last year, the motivation to get anything above just a passing grade slowly dims. This is referred to as, Senior-it is, and yes it is a real thing. If you ask any senior in the class of 2018 they will tell you their lack of determination and how bad they just want to graduate. So I did just that, and this is what they said:
“I definitely think that senioritis is a thing that affects many people. Since the beginning of my senior year I knew I needed to work hard to not let it affect me. I make it my effort to come every day, even when I really just feel like sleeping for another couple of hours. It is a big struggle to not become lazy when you get so close to the end.” –Ashley Spears
“I think senioritis is really a thing, at the beginning of the year you are so over joyed that you’re about to graduate and about to start new things .you forgot that you still have to get through senior year and are so over whelmed with projects and unnecessary homework. I think that every senior can agree that by after Christmas break the eagerness to graduate comes more than anything. But we must also remember that we need to stay the course in order to succeed.” –Tanner Johnson
