St. Patrick’s Day
St. Patrick’s Day is the day that commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. It celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. Celebrations usually include: public parades and festival and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks. A shamrock is a young sprig, used as a symbol of Ireland. Saint Patrick. Ireland's patron saint, is said to have used it as a metaphor for the Christian Holy Trinity.
In recent years, people have criticized this holiday because it has brought out “the crazy” in most North Americans, even though it is mostly celebrated in: the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom, Canada, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand. The U.S uses the holiday for drinking, and only a few of the people actually know the culture.
Here are some things you can do if you want to visit Ireland and actually enjoy the culture.
