County Clerk Wynn illustrated the benefits of voting to the student body by asking individuals questions about politics and awarding them gift cards. Sen. Yarbro emphasized the need for more active voters by recounting his first election. Due to the low voter turnout, he lost by only seventeen votes.
During the local 2016 elections, only 12% of Nashvillians voted. Tennessee’s voter turnout is also the lowest in the nation. Project Register aims to promote Tennessee’s new online voting registration system, which can be accessed here.
