Throughout the last semester, freshmen have been rewarded for their achievements, by pizza parties and pointless incentives. I’ve heard from different sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and they all seem to think it is not fair that the freshmen are awarded when the other three grades are working harder, or are more stressed. I agree completely, but can also sympathize with freshmen.
As a junior, I frequently feel overwhelmed with the work I have to do. Especially in the second semester, when exam preparation, tests, projects, and the thought of college start to add up. I would agree with a lot of other juniors that we have more work than freshmen. But, everyone was a freshman once. We all know what it felt like to come to high school for the first time. Middle school and high school are both completely different environments, socially and academically. Freshmen can be stressed too. Maybe for different reasons, but stress is stress, no matter what cause.
Don’t get me wrong, I think that rewarding only the freshmen is the wrong choice. Everyone in the school should be praised for doing well. Sophomores work is harder, juniors have to think about colleges, seniors are applying to college and have extra things to think about. The favoring of freshman is inconsiderate to the rest of the student body.
If the Dean is going to reward the freshmen, it’s only fair that he rewards the rest of the school too. Seniors, juniors, and sophomores deserve the same amount of attention that the freshmen are getting.
