INSIDER WITH HUNTER HAYES
Written by: Corbin Chandler
On October 4, 2017, we all were treated to a concert by Hunter Hayes and a few of our own guitar students to celebrate and kick off the renovation of our NSA guitar lab. Treated is a subjective word— I know that at first, I was skeptical about whether or not I would really enjoy such an event, since I am no great fan of country music. However, my doubts were quickly dashed away when Hunter Hayes walked onto the stage and spoke to the students that filled our theater. His little speech about how our very school environment inspired him made me proud of us as a whole, and the fact that he got so many other businesses to pitch in and help our school build something he didn’t have when he was in high school (which wasn’t so long ago for him) touched me. Part of me just enjoyed the performance because Hunter Hayes was, what with his very passionate guitar-playing and facial expressions, and part of me enjoyed it because everyone else seemed to be. We were truly gifted with this man’s gift to us— his belief and support, something we all need more of in our lives.
(If you’re interested, the songs he played during the performance were “I Want Crazy”, “Rescue”, “Somebody’s Heartbreak”, and “Invisible”.)
