Valentine’s Day is a Hallmark Holiday, which means it’s gassed up to be this important day with chocolate, teddy bears and cute gestures. Personally, I think that showing affection to your significant other shouldn’t be singled out to just one day, but whatever. Let’s also point out that majority of people don’t even have a cutie to spend this day with anyway, which makes the days leading up to the holiday and the day itself 10 times as worse. So, for all you people out there that are alone on V Day, here are some things you can do to still have fun!
One, you can meet up with your friends. Spending a mushy, "lovey dovey" holiday with your friends is kind of a way to overpower the cuteness and still have a good time. Plus, there are so many things you guys can do to preoccupy yourself! You can have a movie day and watch romance movies while you eat junk food and ice cream. You can go out and party! You can also have a DIY day. Go on Pinterest and see the things you’ve always wanted to make, but have never had the time. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be spent with “that special someone”, because your friends are just a special and they’ve probably been there for you longer anyway.
Another thing that you could chose, which is my mom’s personal preference, is to not acknowledge the holiday at all. You can treat it like any other day of the year, and 99% of the time, it will work out just fine. Just because there are teddy bears in every Target and chocolate in every Walgreens, doesn’t mean you have to surrender to its charms.
